Maintenance and Move or Transportation

Keeping the Printer

When storing the printer, place it on a horizontal surface with the ink cartridges installed in the printer.

cCaution:

The printer must be kept flat. Do not tilt it, stand it on end, or turn it upside down.

If you do not used the printer for a long time

When not using the printer for a long period (one week or more), perform head cleaning once a week. If head cleaning is not performed, the print head may get clogged. Doing so will preserve print quality.

Do not leave the printer without ink cartridges; otherwise, the ink will dry out and the printer is not able to print properly. Even if you do not use the printer, leave all of the ink cartridges in the slots.

Do not leave the paper in the printer for a long period of time; otherwise, the roller for securing the paper may leave a mark on the surface of the paper.

Protecting the print head

This printer has a capping function that automatically puts a cap on the print head to keep it away from drying.

If the print head is left uncapped, the print quality may decline. When you are not using the printer, make sure the print head is located on the far right so that it is capped.

See “Capping function” on page 68

Moving or Transporting the Printer

This section describes how to move or transport the printer.
