¿EXISTEN PROGRAMAS EN INGLÉS?

¡Sí! Muchas de las estaciones internacionales prin- cipales tienen programas en inglés.

¿EN QUÉ CONSISTEN ESOS PROGRAMAS?

Ellos pueden variar considerablemente de país a país; sin embargo, la programación consiste usual- mente en noticias internacionales, noticias locales del país de origen, comentarios de las noticias, pro- gramas de entrevistas, programas orientados cul- turalmente, programas con orientación musical y hasta propaganda política.

¿SON CLARAS LAS SEÑALES?

Muchas veces, pero no siempre. La tecnología actual ha reducido mucho el desvanecimiento de las señales y la interferencia, que son aspectos naturales que afectan los radioescuchas de transmisiones interna- cionales.

¿PUEDO OÍR PROGRAMAS DE UN PAÍS ESPECÍFICO?

Sí, si ese país está transmitiendo su señal para ser escuchada específicamente en su región del mundo. De otra forma, las probabilidades pueden varias desde buenas hasta imposibles.

SI UN PAÍS NO ESTÁ TRANSMI - TIENDO SU SEÑAL ESPECÍFICAMENTE PARA SER RECIBIDA EN NORTEAMÉRICA, ¿HAY ALGUNA PROBABILIDAD DE RECIBIRLA?

Sí, con conocimiento de la hora de la transmisión y la frecuencia, y con paciencia, es posible pero no se puede garantizar. Una antena externa de diseño pro- fesional puede ayudar mucho. Llame al departamento de asistencia técnica de Grundig para obtener infor- mación sobre ese tipo de antena.

¿QUÉ MÂS SE PUEDE Y NO SE PUEDE OÍR EN LAS ONDAS CORTAS?

Puede oír comunicaciones de larga distancia y de dos vías de tipo marítimo, aeronáutico y entre radioaficionados. Para recibir esas comunicaciones debe utilizar un radio de onda corta de diseño avanzado, capaz de recibir señales de una sola banda lateral (SSB). Los radios más avanzados de Grundig pueden hacerlo. Los servicios locales de tráfico aéreo, policía, bomberos, ambulancias y meteorológicos en las bandas de VHF/UHF (Frecuencias muy altas y ultra altas) NO pueden ser sintonizados con este radio. Para eso, usted necesi- ta un receptor de VHF/UHF.

¿A QUÉ DISTANCIA SE PUEDEN RECIBIR LAS ESTACIONES DE AM Y FM?

FM es estrictamente para las estaciones locales. Durante el día, las estaciones de AM generalmente tienen un alcance máximo de 50 a 100 millas (80 a 160 km). Por la noche, las señales de AM se pueden escuchar a distancias muy grandes, hasta cientos de millas.

¿CÓMO ES QUE SE PUEDEN OÍR PROGRAMAS DE TODO EL MUNDO EN UN RADIO DE ONDA CORTA?

Las señales de onda corta se pueden oír alrededor del mundo debido al efecto de la ionosfera. La ionosfera es una capa, como una nube, que rodea a la tierra, a una altitud de 90 a 160 millas (140 a 250 kilómetros). Consiste en electrones e iones y su densidad es controlada por el sol y las fuerzas geomagnéticas de la tierra. Las ondas de radio rebotan virtualmente contra esa capa, retornan a la tierra y rebotan nuevamente hacia la ionosfera, repitiendo este proceso varias veces. Los bajos ángulos en que sucede esto permiten que las ondas de radio viajen grandes distancias con cada rebote. El proceso se conoce como reflexión de las ondas de radio y propagación ionosférica.
