Preparation for recording

Before making recording of analog or digital audio, you must make preparation for recording as described below.

The following description assumes that the CR500 is turned on and a BWF formatted or CD-DA formatted blank CD-R/RW disc is set to the disc tray. To record WAV files, use a BWF formatted CD-R/RW disc. To record audio CD tracks, use a CD-DA formatted CD-R/RW disc.

Connecting a sound source

To record an analog audio signal, connect a sound source to the [ANALOG INPUT] (bal- anced or unbalanced) connectors. To record a digital audio signal, connect a sound source to the [DIGITAL INPUT] connector.

<Note>: If you make connection to both the analog balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) input connectors, the unbalanced input takes priority and the balanced input is dis- abled.
