CD-R/RW MASTER RECORDER CR500 (MENU mode: DISK UTILITY menu)

Editing a file name [Edit file name]

The "Edit File Name" menu item edits the file name of a WAV file on an unfinalized BWF

disc. This menu item is not available with CD-DA discs and finalized BWF discs.

<Note>: After editing a file name, do not forget to rewrite the file system using the "Rewrite File Sys" menu item described on the previous page. However, each time you rewrite the system file, the number of remaining recordable files decreases by one and the remaining disc space decreases. Therefore, we recommend rewriting the system file after you complete all file editing operations.

If you attempt to eject an edited disc without rewriting the file system, the popup screen for rewriting the file system appears (see the previous page).

1)While the recorder is stopped, press the [ENTER/YES] key.

The unit enters the MENU mode and the MENU list screen as below is shown.

2)Use the [MENU] dial to highlight "DISK UTILITY " and press the [ENTER/YES] key.

The display now shows the DISK UTILITY menu screen.

4)Use the [MENU] dial to select an audio file you want to edit and press the [ENTER/YES] key.

The display now shows the "EDIT FILE NAME" screen. On this screen, you can edit the current file name (the rightmost character of the name flashes).

5)Edit the file name.

Use the [SKIP/CURSOR ] keys to move the cursor point (flashing point).

Use the numeric ([MEMORY]) keys or [MENU] dial to select the desired character of the flashing point.

Pressing the [CLEAR/+10] key deletes the immediate right character of the flashing point.

Therefore, by pressing the [CLEAR/+10] key repeatedly when the leftmost character flashes, you can delete the whole current name.

3)Use the [MENU] dial to highlight "Edit File Name " and press the [ENTER/YES] key.

The display now shows the screen for selecting an audio file from the audio file list.

<Note>: Do not edit or delete ".wav", the file extension of a file name. If you attempt to save a file name which does not have this file extension, the dis- play shows "Void" and returns to the previous screen.

5)After entering the desired name, press the [ENTER/YES] key.

The old name is replaced with the new name.

6)To exit the MENU mode, press the [STOP/ HOME] key.

The display returns the Home screen which has been shown before entering the MENU mode.

The Fostex CR500 is a remarkable addition to the world of professional audio monitoring, offering an impressive blend of technology and user-friendly design. This studio monitor is engineered to deliver high-quality sound reproduction, making it an ideal choice for musicians, audio engineers, and home studio enthusiasts alike.

At the heart of the CR500 is its sophisticated driver technology. Featuring a 5-inch woofer and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter, the monitor delivers a well-balanced sound with clarity and depth. The woofer is designed to handle low frequencies with precision, providing deep bass response, while the tweeter ensures that high frequencies are reproduced smoothly, eliminating harshness and fatigue during long mixing sessions.

One of the standout features of the CR500 is its bi-amp system, which allows the woofer and tweeter to be powered separately. This amplification method minimizes distortion and enhances overall sound quality, allowing each driver to perform optimally. Additionally, the rear-firing bass port contributes to an extended low-frequency response, giving users a more immersive listening experience.

The CR500 is equipped with a range of control options, including a volume knob, high-frequency and low-frequency control, and a switch for adjusting the speaker's position in the room. This level of customization is crucial for achieving an accurate mix, as it allows users to tailor the sound to their specific environment.

In terms of connectivity, the Fostex CR500 comes with balanced XLR and TRS inputs, ensuring compatibility with a wide array of audio interfaces and mixing consoles. This flexibility makes it an excellent choice for both professional studios and home setups.

Build quality is another key aspect of the CR500. The cabinet is constructed from high-density MDF, which helps minimize cabinet resonance and unwanted vibrations. The sleek finish not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also contributes to its durability.

Overall, the Fostex CR500 studio monitor stands out for its exceptional sound quality, robust build, and user-friendly features. It's an excellent choice for anyone looking to elevate their audio production experience, whether for music production, mixing, or mastering.
