Recalibrating the battery

If your notebook unexpectedly goes into Standby mode while you are using it but the battery charge is not low, you may need to recalibrate your battery. You should also recalibrate the battery periodically to maintain the accuracy of the battery gauge.

To recalibrate the battery:

3 As soon as it starts and you see a startup screen, press F2. The BIOS Setup utility opens.

4 Open the Power menu.

5 Highlight Smart Battery Calibration, then press ENTER. When prompted, start the recalibration program.

Important

Do not interrupt the battery recalibration process. If recalibration is interrupted, you must start the process over again.

6 After the battery has been fully discharged and your notebook has turned itself off, re-connect the AC adapter and fully recharge your battery. Recharging may take several hours. After the battery finishes recharging, the battery meter displays the accurate battery charge. If the battery meter does not show an accurate charge, contact Gateway Technical Support.
