Functional Performance Verification Tests

Correlator Test

The correlator test verifies that the intermodule bus time correlator on the microprocessor board is functioning properly. If the correlator is functioning, then intermodule measurements can be time-correlated to within 2 ns. This test reports either a pass or fail message. For Correlator Test failures, you can suspect a faulty microprocessor board.

Hard Disk Test

The Hard Disk Test reads the hard disk to see if the format is recognized. If the format is not recognized the test is considered to have failed for the hard disk drive.

Possible problems causing a fail message include the following:

•A damaged or disconnected disk drive data cable.

•A damaged or disconnected disk drive power cable.

•Hard disk drive is not formatted.

•A faulty disk drive.

•Faulty microprocessor interface circuitry to the disk drive.

Flexible Disk Test

The Flexible Disk Test reads the flexible disk to identify the format. If the format cannot be identified, the test is considered to have failed for the disk drive. If a flexible disk cannot be detected, the message "no disk" is displayed instead of the pass or fail message. This power-up disk test only checks a few tracks.

Possible problems causing a fail message include the following:

•A damaged or disconnected disk drive cable.

•Wrong disk formatting or no disk formatting.

•A faulty disk drive.

•Faulty microprocessor interface circuitry to the disk drive.

For Flexible Disk Test failures, verify the continuity and connection of the disk drive cable and use formatted disks.
