HP VSC Basic Configuration

This section describes the intial configuration steps necessary to get the HP VSC up and running and able to communicate with other elements in the VSP.

The procedures described include:

HP VSC Boot Options File Configuration

The HP VSC uses a Boot Options File (BOF) named bof.cfg that is read on system boot and is used for some basic, low-level system configuration needed to successfully boot the HP VSC.

Table 5 lists the configuration paramaters that are set in the BOF that are needed for proper operation of the HP VSC.

		attempt to boot.
primary-config	cf1:/config.cfg	The primary (first) configuration file the system
		will attempt to load on boot. There are addi‐
		tional parameters for secondary and tertiary
		configuration files should the system be unable
		to locate the specified configuration.
address	no default	The IP address of the Management IP interface
		(also called the “out‐of‐band” interface in the
		HP VSC as this is normally on the data center’s
		management network).
primary-dns	no default	The IP addresses of the primary, secondary and
		tertiary DNS servers that the HP VSC will refer‐

		ence for DNS name resolution.
tertiary-dns
dns-domain	no default	The DNS domain of the HP VSC.
static-route	no default	Configures a static route for subnets reachable
		through the Management IP interface.
wait	3 seconds	Configures a pause in seconds at the start of
		the boot process which allows system initializa‐
		tion to be interrupted at the console.
		When system initialization is interrupted, the
		operator is allowed to manually override the
		parameters defined in the BOF.
