Maximum number of drives for recall (MaxNumDrivesRecall)

Definition

Maximum number of drives that can be used for recall by the partition.

 

 

Impact

The purpose of this parameter is to prevent the respective Partition Manager from using

 

all the drives at once for recall jobs. You should carefully balance resources according to

 

your environment.

 

 

Maximum number of drives for recovery (MaxNumDrivesRecovery)

Definition

Maximum number of drives that can be used for recovery by the partition.

 

 

Impact

The purpose of this parameter is to prevent the respective Partition Manager from using

 

all the drives at once for recovery jobs. You should carefully balance resources according

 

to your environment.

 

 

Partition priority (PartitionPriority)

Definition

The overall priority level for all jobs of one partition on a scale of 1 to 100.

 

 

Impact

Partition priority is used together with job type priority (migration, recall, recovery,

 

maintenance) to calculate the initial priority of the job. With this parameter you can

 

differentiate overall priority of different FSE partitions.

 

 

Migration priority (MigrationPriority)

Definition

The priority for migration jobs on a scale of 1 to 100.

 

 

Impact

This priority is multiplied by the partition priority in order to calculate the initial priority of

 

a migration job. Typically, the value of the migration priority is lower than the value of the

 

recall priority (because recalls are more critical than migrations); however, you need to

 

balance your job priorities carefully in order not to override other jobs. See ”Priority

 

calculation” on page 146.

 

 

Recall priority (RecallPriority)

Definition

The priority for recall jobs on a scale of 1 to 100.

 

 

Impact

This priority is multiplied by the partition priority in order to calculate the initial priority of

 

a recall job. Typically, the value for the recall priority is higher than the value for the

 

migration priority; however, you need to balance your job priorities carefully in order not

 

to override other jobs. See ”Priority calculation” on page 146.

 

 

Recovery priority (RecoveryPriority)

Definition

The priority for recovery jobs on a scale of 1 to 100.
