SCSI problems

Description	On the consolidated FSE system or FSE server, major problems with FSE drives are experienced.

Explanation	See Workaround.
Workaround	Check the FSE error log for the following message:
	Access to SCSI device is prevented. Make sure that the device
	driver is disabled.
	If this error message is logged, the cause of the problem with the FSE drive is the operating
	system driver for the tape drive, which has not been disabled.
	For information on disabling the device drivers for tape drives, see the FSE installation guide for
	Windows.
Description	Random failures with tape drives or tape library.
Explanation	On highly loaded systems, SCSI resets may happen on the SCSI bus. This may lead to some
	low-level problems with the attached devices (tape library or drives).
Workaround	Consider using dedicated SCSI bus (card) for connecting the tape library to your system (and
	use other SCSI buses/cards for drives). In case of repeated failures, check the cabling (shielded
	cable is recommended), SCSI terminators (active terminators are recommended) and the power
	supply.
Description	A device connected to the SCSI or Fibre Channel HBA does not work correctly. Some operations
	are faulty or do not work.
Explanation	The root cause of the problem may be that your HBA does not support direct SCSI pass-through
	mode, the default mode for SCSI operation used in the FSE implementation.
Workaround	Verify that you have the latest driver version for your HBA installed on the system. If not, update
	the driver.
	If the problem persists, use the HSM_PT_DIRECT variable to enable buffered SCSI
	pass-through mode. For instructions on how to do this, see ”HSM_PT_DIRECT” on page 279.
