Chapter 1. Product overview

Thank you for selecting an IBM NetVista X computer. Your computer incorporates many of the latest advances in computer technology. This chapter provides an overview of the computer, features, and preinstalled software.

Identifying your computer

In most instances, the best way to identify your computer is by the machine type/model number. The machine type/model number indicates the various features of the computer, such as the type of microprocessor and the number of bays. You can find this number on the small label on the right side of your computer. An example of a machine type/model number is 6274-xxx.
