PLAYBACK FEATURES for VHS deck (cont.)

TBC

Your recorder is equipped with the TBC (Time Base Corrector) that removes jitter from fluctuating video signals to deliver a stable picture even with old tapes and rental cassettes.

The on/off of Digital 3-DNR (Noise Reduction) which cuts noise and enables clear picture reproduction is also linked to this function.

* The default setting is “ON”.

We recommend that you use the TBC feature when...

... playing back a tape recorded on a camcorder.

... playing back a tape repeatedly used.

... using this recorder as the player for editing.

NOTES:

If you play back a tape recorded under poor TV reception condition, there may be cases where the picture becomes more stable with Digital TBC set to off.

When Digital TBC is set to on, if you play back a tape where certain types of signals are recorded (using a PC or some character generators), the playback picture may be distorted. If this is the case, turn off Digital TBC.

Digital TBC and Video Stabilizer ( pg. 45) cannot be used at the same time; if you turn on Digital TBC when "VIDEO STABILIZER" is set to "ON", Video Stabilizer will be automati- cally turned "OFF". Make sure Digital TBC is off when you want to use Video Stabilizer.

Select The Soundtrack

The VHS deck can record two soundtracks simultaneously (Normal and Hi-Fi) and play back the selected one, or both together. Or, when viewing a pre-recorded tape that contains two separate Hi-Fi audio programs, you can choose to listen to either one by selecting either "Hi-Fi L" or "Hi-Fi R".

You can select the soundtrack by simply pressing the remote control's A. MONITOR button as follows:

Hi-Fi Hi-Fi L Hi-Fi R Normal Mix Hi-Fi

NOTE:

If the tape being played back has no Hi-Fi soundtrack, the Normal soundtrack will be heard no matter what choice you make.
