12.Connect one end of the signal cable to the bottom of the new solid-state drive and the other end to an available SATA connector on the system board. See “Locating parts on the system board” on page 13. Then, locate an available four-wire power connector and connect it to the bottom of the new solid-state drive.

Installing or replacing the optical drive

Attention:

Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the “Important safety information” on page v.

This section provides instructions on how to install or replace the optical drive.

Note: The optical drive is only available in some models.

To replace the optical drive, do the following:

1.Turn off the computer and disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets.

2.Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 38.

3.Remove the front bezel. See “Removing and reinstalling the front bezel” on page 38.

4.Pivot the drive bay assembly upward. See “Accessing the system board components and drives” on page 40.

5.Disconnect the signal cable and the power cable from the optical drive.
