4. Manual flash mode

Manual flash mode is always associated with full

￿light output. Consequently, the aperture setting on the camera must be used for adaptation to the prevailing lighting conditions.

Setting procedure for manual flash mode (fig. 5): Example: Flash-to-subject distance 5 m

Film speed ISO 100/21°

Focal length, e.g. 50mm (35mm format)

The mecablitz is used without a W or T attach-

ment

in place.

 

 

A flash-to-subject distance

of 5 m in manual mode

requires an aperture of f/5.6.

 

 

• Set the operating mode selector

at M.

• Switch the SLAVE function selector

to position 0!.

• Turn on the flash unit with the main switch .

Select the corresponding aperture on the lens and set the camera to flash synch speed or a slower speed.

The aperture to be set on the camera can also be calcula- ted by the following formula:

Guide number

Aperture = ———————

Subject distance

The guide number for the film speed used is indicated in the corresponding table of the „Technical Data“ section.
