Setting the recording method of time code

Applicable modes:

Time code represents the recording time by the units of hour, minute, second and frame, and can be used as a time scale for editing motion pictures. This unit automatically records time code during motion picture recording.

Time codes are not recorded on motion pictures recorded when the [Rec Format] is set to [MP4].

1Select the menu. (P54)

> [Motion Picture] > [Time Code]

2Press 3/4 to select the item and then press [MENU/SET].

[Time Code

Set whether or not the time code is displayed on the recording

screen/playback screen.

Display]

[ON]/[OFF]

 

 

Sets the time code count method.

 

[REC RUN]:

[Count Up]

Counts the time code only when recording motion pictures.

[FREE RUN]:

 

 

Counts the time code even when not recording (including when

 

this unit is turned off).

 

Sets the start point (starting time) for the time code.

 

[Reset]:

 

Sets to 00:00:00:00 (hour: minute: second: frame)

[Time Code Value] [Manual Input]:

 

Manually input hour, minute, second and frame.

 

[Current Time]:

 

Sets hour, minute and second to current time and sets frame to 00.

 

Sets the time code recording method.

 

[DF] (Drop frame):

 

The camera modifies the difference between recorded time and

 

time code. This method is used for producing TV programs and

 

other situations where an exact time period needs to be recorded.

 

Seconds and frames are separated by “.”. (Example: 00:00:00.00)

 

[NDF] (Non-drop frame):

[Time Code Mode] Records the time code without drop frame. Used in image production, etc.

Seconds and frames are separated by “:”. (Example: 00:00:00:00)

The setting is fixed to [NDF] in the following cases.

When [System Frequency] is set to [50.00 Hz (PAL)] or [24.00 Hz (CINEMA)]

When [System Frequency] is set to [59.94 Hz (NTSC)] and the motion picture frame rate is set to [24p] in [Rec Quality]
