About DVD-ROMs, CD-ROMs and diskettes

My DVD-ROM / CD-ROM drive tray does not open

Make sure the computer is turned on.

Press the Eject button on the DVD-ROM / CD-ROM drive.

If the Eject button does not work, you can open the tray by inserting a sharp, pointed object into the hole to the right of the Eject button.

I can’t play a CD-ROM disc

Make sure the label of the CD-ROM is facing up.

If the CD-ROM disc requires software, make sure the software is installed according to the program’s instructions.

Check the volume of your speakers.

Clean the CD-ROM disc.

Moisture condensation may have occurred. Leave the computer for at least 1 hour while it is turned on.

I can’t play a DVD-ROM disc

If a region code warning appears when you are using the DVD player, it could be that the DVD-ROM disc you are trying to play is incompatible with the DVD-ROM drive in your notebook computer. The region code is listed on the disc’s packaging.

If you hear sound but cannot see video, your computer’s video resolution may be set too high. For best results, change the resolution in Windows Control Panel/ Display/Settings to 800 x 600 using 8-bit color.
