Adjacent boxes The BOX position is specified by the coordinates of the upper left corner of the box in which the text string is to be placed. If text is to be placed in an adjacent box (either vertically or horizontally adjacent), this can be specified by an IN NEXT BOX parameter, having the following form:

[[IN] [NEXT] HORIZONTAL VERTICAL BOX ‘text‘ [‘text‘ . . . ]] . .

. ] ;

To be considered adjacent, the boxes must have a common side. The keywords IN NEXT HORIZONTAL BOX specify the next horizontal box to the right of the current box. The keywords IN NEXT VERTICAL BOX specify the box beneath the current box. These adjacent boxes are shown in figure 3-17. The default is

HORIZONTAL.
