Warming up engine

EMU41231

Procedure for warming up engine

1.After starting the engine, warm up the en- gine until the engine speed stabilizes at idle speed to provide maximum operating performance and acceleration. Failure to do so will shorten engine life.

2.Check that the low oil pressure-alert indi- cator remains off. NOTICE: If the low oil pressure-alert indicator blinks after the engine starts, stop the engine. Otherwise, serious engine damage could occur. Consult your Yamaha

dealer. [ECM02380]

WARNING

Before shifting, make sure there are no swimmers or obstacles in the water near you.

NOTICE

Warm up the engine before shifting into gear. Until the engine is warm, the idle speed may be higher than normal. High idle speed can prevent you from shifting back to neutral. If this occurs, stop the en- gine, shift to neutral, then restart the engine and allow it to warm up.

To shift out of neutral

1.Pull the neutral interlock trigger up (if equipped).
