Standard spark plug:
2.Measure the spark plug gap using a thickness gauge. If the spark plug gap is out of specification, replace the spark plug with the specified plug.

1.Wipe off any dirt from the threads, insula- tor, and gasket surface of the spark plug.
2.Install the spark plug, and then tighten it to the specified torque.

Inspecting engine idle speedECM01690
NOTICE
This procedure must be performed while the outboard motor is in the water.
Inspect the engine idle speed using the Command Link tachometer or digital tachometer that is equipped on the boat. Results may vary depending on whether testing is conducted with the outboard motor in the water.
1.Start the engine and allow it to warm up fully in neutral until it is running smoothly.
2.Inspect the engine idle speed. If the en- gine idle speed is out of specification, consult a Yamaha dealer or other quali- fied mechanic.
Idle speed (in neutral): 750 ±50 r/min
