TO DISPLAY THE CALLER ID

This function, which may be activated by the telephone company on request by the user, is only available in some countries and conforms to the ETSI ETS 300 778-1 standard.

This function tells you immediately who is calling. In this way, you will be able to decide whether to answer the call or not.

When this function is enabled, if the fax machine is instand- by mode, whenever a call is received, it always shows one of the following items of information:

number or name of the correspondent who called you;

PRIVATE: if the correspondent has chosen not to reveal his identity to you;

NOT AVAILABLE: if the correspondent is connected to a telephone exchange that does not support this service.

If you are programming your fax machine and, when an incoming call is received, want to know who is calling

you, you must press the key before answering the call.

It may however happen, if you are connected to a particu- lar kind of telephone network, that the number of the caller is not displayed on the fax machine. If this happens, call your local customer engineering service centre.

The fax machine is already set up to display the caller ID. You may however set it up not to display it, as follows:

NOTE

With this function enabled, if a power failure occurs and the date and time are lost, they will be restored when the next call is received.

TO CHANGE THE NUMBER OF RINGS

This function is only enabled in some countries.

If set in "PHONE/FAX" or "TAD/FAX" reception mode, when an incoming call is received, the fax machine automatically recognizes, aftertworings, whether the call is being made from another fax machine (FAX) or a telephone (TEL).

If you want, you can change the number of rings, as fol- lows:
