Troubleshooting

WARNING — HEAD COLD	CAUTION An improperly connected print head data cable or power cable
THERMISTOR FAULT	can cause these error messages. The print head may be hot enough to cause
ERROR CONDITION — HEAD	severe burns. Allow the print head to cool.
ELEMENT BAD
	The print head data cable is not properly	CAUTION Turn OFF printer power
(Printer stops, ERROR light on, printer
cycles through these three messages.)	connected.	before performing this procedure.
		Failure to do so can damage the print
		head.
		1. Turn OFF printer power.
		2. Disconnect and reconnect the
		data cable to the print head.
		3. Ensure that the cable connector is
		fully inserted into the print head
		connector.
		4. Turn ON the printer.
	The print head has a faulty thermistor.	Call 3M Service.
WARNING — HEAD COLD	CAUTION An improperly connected print head data cable or power cable

WARNING — HEAD TOO HOT	CAUTION The print head may be hot enough to cause severe burns. Allow
(Printer stops, ERROR light flashes.)	the print head to cool.
	The print head is over temperature.	Allow the print head to cool. Printing
		automatically resumes when the print
		head elements cool to an acceptable
		operating temperature.
