About This Guide

Preface

Use this guide when you want to move to Mac OS X Server version 10.4 from a previous version of the server.

This guide contains instructions for reusing data and settings of previous server versions. There are two approaches:

ÂPerform an upgrade installation. This approach leaves all your data and settings in place and lets you reuse your existing server hardware for Mac OS X Server version 10.4. You can perform an upgrade installation of version 10.3 and version 10.2 servers.

ÂManually migrate data and settings. This approach transfers data and settings to a different computer—one running Mac OS X Server version 10.4. You can migrate data and settings from server versions 10.3, 10.2, 10.1, 1.2, and AppleShare IP (ASIP) 6.3.3.
