Section 1: Introduction

Internet/Intranet The built-in Web server makes it possible to access data via any standard Web

Web Server browser, such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. The support includes configuration, management and disc access.

Speed By using a 32-bit RISC processor and cache memory expandable up to 160 MB, data throughput of up to 2700 kB/sec on a single client, or 4000 kB totally for multiple clients, is obtained – ample speed for demanding CD-ROM applications.

Security Disc access can be restricted by setting up native access control in all network environments. It is also possible to limit the number of simultaneous users of any disc in order to comply with license agreements.

Maintenance New software can easily be downloaded to the StorPoint CD’s Flash memory by using Windows Explorer drag-and-drop, or over the network using FTP. All updates are free of charge.

Network The StorPoint CD supports the Simple Network Management Protocol, Management SNMP.

Hard Disk Caching The StorPoint CD includes a hard disk caching facility that can copy the inserted discs to attached hard disks. This mechanism will allow faster user access, especially if you are using changers. Furthermore, a cached copy can be accessed even though the original disc has been ejected from the drive.

CD Grouping In the Microsoft and IBM (SMB) and the Novell NetWare network environments it is possible to use your Windows Explorer to create new group folders under the Volumes folder. This makes it possible to group discs, and thus easier to locate and access.

Easy Network Backup With the support of writing to recordable discs using simple drag-and-drop, the StorPoint CD makes an excellent backup solution over the network.

Scalable Solutions If you have more than one StorPoint CD on your network, the AXIS StorPoint DISCO is a convenient tool for locating and accessing the networked CD/DVDs. The AXIS StorPoint DISCO utility can be downloaded free of charge from the Axis Web Site.

Asian Languages With the StorPoint CD you can display Asian discs on the Discs & Drives page. The supported languages are: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
