Using Hard Disk Caching for Archiving Discs

To use the hard disk caching for archiving discs, follow these steps:

1.Start your Web browser and enter the name or IP address of the StorPoint CD in the location/address field.

2.Click admin. You will be prompted for the Server username and password. By default, this is set to root and pass.

3.Open the Discs & Drives page. This page includes three views that you can select by clicking the corresponding tab:

Drives

Cached Discs

The Discs and File Manual archiving is managed from the Discs and File System view.

System View

The Hard disk bar at the top of the page shows how much of the total hard disk space that is currently being used for archived copies and cached data. The free space available for archiving new discs is noted next to the bar. If you have more than one hard disk attached to the StorPoint CD, the size of the largest disc that can be archived will be displayed below the bar. For more information about free hard disk space, go to the Statistics page.

The table lists: inserted discs inserted archived discs

archived discs that are currently not inserted

inserted mirrored disc

discs that are currently being cached.

Note: Discs with multiple file systems are displayed as two discs in the Discs and File System view.
