enabling/disabling UPnP
UPnP (Universal Plug-an d-Play) is yet anot her advanced feat ure offered
by your Belkin Router� It is a technology that offers seamles s operation
of voice messaging, vid eo messaging, ga mes, and other a pplications
that are UPnP-compliant � Some applicatio ns require the Rou ter’s firewall
to be configured in a s pecific way to ope rate properly� This usually
requires opening TCP an d UDP ports� A n application that is UPnP-
compliant has the abili ty to communicate with the Router, basi cally
“telling” the Router whi ch way it needs th e firewall configu red� If you
are using any applicati ons that are UPnP- compliant, and wi sh to take
advantage of the UPnP fea tures, do not worr y, this Router ships with
the UPnP feature enable d as default set ting� If you want to d isable
the UPnP feature, simply select “Disable” in the “UPnP Enabl ing/
Disabling” section of the “Utilities” pag e� Click “Apply Chang es” to save
the change�

automatically check for a new version of firmware and aler t you that
the new firmware is availa ble� When you log into the Router’s Web-
Based Advanced User In terface, the Rou ter will perform a check to see
if new firmware is availab le� If so, you will b e notified� You can ch oose
to download the new versi on or ignore it� T he Router ships wi th this
feature enabled� If you want to disable it, select “Disabl e” and click
“Apply Changes”�
