Problem:
The Setup Assistant c annot find my Rou ter�
solution:
If the Setup Assistant is not able to fin d the Router durin g the installatio n process, plea se check the follow ing items:
2� Unplug power to the Router for 10 seconds, an d then plug the
power back into the Router� En sure that the Route r’s Power light is
on; it should be solid g reen� If not, chec k to make sure that the AC
adapter is correctly c onnected to the R outer and plugged into a
wall outlet�
3� Ensure that you have a cab le (use the cable included with the
Router) connected bet ween (1) the network ( Ethernet) port o n the
back of the computer an d (2) one of the LA N ports, labe led “1”
through “4”, on the back of the Rou ter�
Note: The computer shoul d NOT be connecte d to the port lab eled
“Modem” on the back of t he Router�
4� Try shutting down and res tarting your co mputer, then rerunnin g the
Setup Assistant�
If the Setup Assistant is still unable to find the Router, refer ence
the section titled “Ma nually Configuri ng Network Setti ngs” for
installation steps�
1� If the Setup Assista nt is not able to find the Router du ring the
installation process , there may be thir d-party firewa ll software
installed on the compu ter attempting to access the Intern et�
Examples of third-par ty firewall sof tware are ZoneA larm,
BlackICE PC Protection, M cAfee Personal Fi rewall, and Norto n
Personal Firewall�
If you do have firewall sof tware installed on your computer, ple ase make
sure that you properly configure it� You can determine if the f irewall
software is preventing Internet access by temporarily tu rning it off� If,
while the firewall is dis abled, Internet a ccess works prop erly, you will
need to change the fir ewall settings to f unction properly when it is
turned on�
Please refer to the inst ructions provide d by the publisher of your
firewall software for instructions on c onfiguring the f irewall to allow
Internet access�
