Configuring ILOM on Sun Fire X4600 Platform

Configuring the Static IP Address Using the Command Line Interface (CLI)

There are several options to connect to the ILOM. Use the following procedure to establish the
connection to the ILOM using a serial connection. The following procedure is based on the Sun
Microsystems document, Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) Administration Guide, For ILOM
1.1.1.
For other connection options, see the Sun Microsystems document, Sun Fire X4600 and Sun Fire X4600
M2 Server Operating System Installation Guide. You can find these two documents on Sun
Microsystems web site at the following URL,
http://docs.sun.com.
Note This procedure assumes that you have already completed the hardware setup and have applied standby
power to your server.
Step 1 Verify that your terminal, laptop, or terminal server is operational.
Step 2 Configure the terminal device or the terminal emulation software running on a laptop or a PC to the
following settings:
8N1: eight data bits, no parity, one stop bit
9600 baud
Disable hardware flow control (CTS/RTS)
Disable software flow control (XON/XOFF)
Step 3 Connect a serial cable from the RJ-45 SERIAL MGT port on the server back panel to a terminal device.
See Figure 2-5.
