35 Replacing the Processor Heat-Sink

Procedure

NOTE: The original thermal grease can be reused if the original system board and heat sink are reinstalled together. If either the system board or the heat sink is replaced with a new one, use the thermal pad provided in the kit to ensure that thermal conductivity is achieved.

1Clean the thermal grease from the bottom of the processor heat-sink and reapply the thermal grease.

2Align the captive screws on the processor heat-sink with the screw holes on the system board.

3In sequential order (indicated on the processor heat-sink), tighten the captive screws that secure the processor heat-sink to the system board.

4Replace the screw that secures the cooling vents and the grounding cable to the computer base.
