Unlocking the Scanner
Before connecting the scanner to a power source, you must release the transportation lock, located on the side of the scanner.
To release the transportation lock, turn it counterclockwise to the 
icon, as shown.

If you can’t turn the transportation lock easily, turn the scanner on;
then, after the ERROR and READY lights start flashing, turn the scanner off and try again.
Always lock the transportation lock before moving the scanner. Also, be sure the carriage is in the home position (shown below). See “Transporting the Scanner” on page 125 for more information.
