Utilities

The Px series application switch offers utilities for the fo llowing op erations:

•Checking Basic Connectivity on page4-15

•Logging on page 4-16

•Configuring a Startup Banner Message on page 4-17

•Starting the GlobalPx Content Director Agent on page4-17

Showing CPU Load

Use the following command to show the CPU load:

top

This is similar to the UNIX top command. The idl e task, BGTask, shows 99%-100% if

nothing else is going on.

Checking Basic Connectivity

The Px series application switch offers the following c ommands fo r checking bas ic

connectivity:

•The ping command enables you to send Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP)

echo messages to a remote IP device. This command is available for both the user

and administrator privilege level. The comma nd syntax is:

ping [<ipaddress>|<hostn ame>]

•The traceroute command enables you to trace the routed path between the switch

and a destination end station. The command syntax is:

traceroute [<ip_address> | <hostname>]
