Whenthe DD for a specificdevice is not available , your HART
Communicatorprovides ageneric interface. This gene ric interface enables
youto perform functions common to all HART-compatible devices.
Figure1-22 shows the Generic O nline menu tree.
TheOnline (Generic) m enu is the first menu in the generic interface. This
menudisplays critical, up-t o-date device information such as the process
variable(PV), analog output (AO), lower range value (LRV), and upper range
value(URV). Configuration parameters for the c onnected device are
accessedusing the Device setup option.
Thefollowing functions are available from theGeneric Online menu:
The functionkey allows you to savea configuration from a
transmitteddevice. See Changing a Saved Configuration on page 1-29 for
moredetails.
DeviceSetup acces ses the Device Setup menu, containing configurable
deviceparameters common t o all HART-compatibledevices.
PV(Primary Variable) displays the dynamic PV and the related engineering
units. When the PV contains too many char acters to display on the Online
menu, press 1to access the PV menu and view the PV and related
engineeringunits.
AO(Analog Output) and related engineering units are displayed on the
Onlinemenu. The AO is the signal on the 4–20 mA scale that correspon ds to
thePV. When the analog output contains too many characters to display on
theOnline menu, press 3to access the PV AO menu and view the AO output
andrelated engineering units.
CurrentLRV (Lower Range Value) and related engineering units are
displayedon the Online menu. When the LRV contains too many characters
todisplay on the Online menu, press 4to access the PV LRV menu and view
theLRV and related engineering units.
CurrentURV (Upper Range Value) and the related engineering units are
displayedon the Online menu. When the URV contains too many characters
todisplay on the Online menu, press 5to access thePV URV menu and
