Make sure the percentage charge is shown inside the Battery Level icon.

(Figure 3-2 on page 21.)

There is no memory effect on the Lithium ion batteries, which means that you do not need to discharge them completely before recharging, this is called "trickle charging". For approximate charging times see Self Help on our Service and Support website at www.8fujitsu.com. Once there click on Self Help Center. Using the pull-down menus select C Series, then

select Specifications, then your unit.

Using heavy current devices such as LAN cards or frequent DVD/CD-ROM accesses may prevent charging completely.

Low Battery State

When the battery is running low, your note- book beeps about every 15 seconds and the Battery Level indicator flashes. If you do not respond to the low battery alarm, the battery will continue to discharge until it is too low to operate. When this happens there will be a multiple beep alarm, the Battery Level indicator will show dead battery, and your notebook will go into Suspend mode to try and protect your data as long as possible. Your power manage- ment settings do not effect what happens at the dead battery alarm level. Your notebook will go to Suspend mode. (Figure 3-2 on page 21.)

You may not be able to hear the audio alarms if the volume control is set too low or is turned off by either hardware or software but you will still be able to see the Battery Level indicator flash.

When the low battery alarm occurs, you need to save all your active data and put your note- book into Suspend mode until you can provide a new power source. You should provide this power as soon as possible. The new power source can be a charged battery or a power adapter, either AC or auto/airline.

C A U T I O N

When you are in Suspend mode there must always be at least one power source active. If you turn off the power with the power button, or remove all power sources, battery, AC adapter or auto/airline adapter, while your note- book is in Suspend mode any data which has not been saved to the hard drive will be lost.
