Problem

You turn on your notebook and nothing seems to happen (continued).

Possible Cause

8.The internal battery is completely discharged and the Power adapter (AC or auto/airline) is faulty.

Possible Solution

8.When the battery is dead there will be a beep when the power switch is turned on and the notebook will immediately go into Critical Low Battery Suspend mode. (See pages 25-26.)Verify the cause using the Status Indicator panel to determine the presence and condition of the batteries and adapter.

(See Figures 3-1 and 3-2 on pages 20-21.) Try a different Power adapter or install a charged optional second battery.

Your notebook turns off all by itself.

1.The power management parameters are set for auto timeouts which are too short for your operating needs.

2.You are operating on battery only and have ignored a low battery alarm until the batteries are all at the dead battery state and your machine has gone into Dead Battery Suspend mode.

1.Use the keyboard or pointer and if that does not restore operation, push the Suspend/ Resume button. Check the PowerPanel - settings or close your applications and go to the setup utility Power menu and adjust the timeout values to better suit your operation needs.

2.Install a Power adapter and then push the Suspend/Resume button. (See Low Battery State on page 25.)
