You have to clean the scanner frequently as following cases :

Scan a smooth surface document such as a coated paper.

Scan a printed document almost fill in the paper.

Scan a processed with chemicals document such as carbonless paper.

Scan a document having a high calcium content.

Scan a lot of penciled document.

CAUTION

Do not clean rubber rollers with Cleaner F2.
