8.2Hot plug hard disk drives

Up to six hot-plug hard disk drives can be installed in the PRIMERGY RX330 S1 Server.

The hard disk drives which can be ordered for the PRIMERGY RX330 S1 are supplied already mounted in an installation frame so that defective hard disk drives can be replaced and new drives can be added during operation. The HDD drive and installation frame together make up the HDD module.

VCAUTION!

●The HDD must not be removed from the installation frame by anyone except a service technician.

●The HDD modules (drives) must all be marked clearly so that they can be put back in their original places after an upgrade. If this is not done, existing data can be lost.

●The hot-plug function is only possible in conjunction with a corre- sponding RAID configuration.

Further information about RAID configuration or the RAID level can be found in the RAID controller documentation (see “Literature” on page 87).

VCAUTION!

Hybrid operation using both SAS and SATA2 hard disk drives is not supported.
