13.4 Receiving and Transmitting

qPush [PWR] to turn power ON.

wPush [VOL], then [Y]/[Z] to adjust audio output level.

•Push [SQL], then push [Y]/[Z] to mute any audio noise, if nec- essary.

•“LOW” appears when low power is selected.

•Choose low power to reduce an intermodulation for other sta- tions, choose high power for longer distance communications.

•Some channels are for selecting low power only.

tPush and hold [PTT] to transmit, then speak into the mi- crophone.

•Channel 70 cannot be used for transmission.

IMPORTANT: To maximize the readability of your transmit- ted signal (voice), pause a few sec. after pushing [PTT], hold the microphone 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) from your mouth and speak at a normal voice level.
