Installing the Thermal Module To install the thermal module on the processor and the GMCH and connect the thermal
module fan, see Figure 10 and follow these steps:
1. Observe the precautions in "Before You Begin" on page 35.
2. Remove the thermal interface material (TIM) protective covering (Figure 10, A)
from the bottom of the thermal module as shown in the figure.
3. Remove the paper backing from the heatsink backing plate (Figure 10, B) to
expose the adhesive and then insert the backing plate into the three matching
holes on the top of the Mobile Board. The adhesive will hold the backing plate in
place while you are attaching the thermal module.
4. Attach the thermal module to the Mobile Board using the eight captive screws as
shown in the figure. Tighten the screws as follows:
a. Starting with screw , loosely tighten the screws in numerical order.
b. Securely retighten each screw in the same order ( to ).
5. Attach the thermal module fan connector (Figure 10, C) to the fan header
(Figure 10, D) on the Mobile Board.
