Storing Modules and Components
Retain the packaging in which a module or component was shipped, and use this
packaging to storethe item. Modules are shipped in antistatic bags and protective
packaging. Components, such as transceivers and nonvolatile storage (NVS) cards,
are shipped in antistatic plastic containers within an antistatic padded box.
CAUTION: Failureto store electronic modules and components correctly can
lead to damage of these items.
Followthese guidelines for storing modules and components:
Store each modulein a separate antistatic bag.
Storecomponents in an antistatic plastic container. Some of these containers
can accommodateseveral components in separate compartments.
Do not storemultiple modules or components in an antistatic bag or container
where theycan touch other items.
(Optional) Store the item in its antistaticbag or container within the protective
packaging or padded box that the item wasshipped in.
Cleaning the System
Dust is attracted to the side oft he systemon which the air intake vent is located.
Clean this side of the system with a dry cloth every few weeks top revent
excessive accumulation of dust. This cleaning helps to maintain the efficiency of
the cooling system and prevent damage to electroniccom ponents.
WARNING: Do not insert any metal object, such as a screwdriver,or place your
hand into an open slot or the backplane when the router is on. Remove jewelry
(including rings, necklaces, and watches) before workingo n equipment that is
connected to powerlines. Theseactions prevent electric shock and serious burns.
CAUTION: When cleaning the system, wear an antistatic wrist strap connected
to the system’sESD grounding jack. This action helps toprotect modules from
damage by electrostatic discharge.
