64 EN SUBSIDIARY SETTINGS

Finalizing DVD-R/RW discs recorded on this unit makes it possible
for the discs to be played back on other DVD players. DVD-RW
discs are finalized in the mode that the discs were formatted,
enabling playback on compatible DVD players.
Title names input in the Library Database Navigation are
registered as title names in the DVD menu. (Apg.51)
Before finalizing
●It is possible to record on a blank space.
●It is possible to enter title names. (Apg. 46)
●It is possible to delete titles. (Apg.44 )
●It is impossible to overwrite recorded areas of DVD-R discs.
●Available recording capacity does not increase even if a recorded
program is deleted from a DVD-R disc.
●It is impossible to record or edit DVD-R/RW discs recorded on
other devices even if they have not been finalized.
After finalizing (For DVD-R/RW (Video mode) discs)
●Video and audio that are recorded in conformity to the DVD
Video standard before finalizing enables you to play back the
discs as DVDVIDEO discs.
●Although DVD-R/RW discs finalized on this unit become playable
on DVD players compatible with DVD-R/RW discs, some discs
still may not play, for which JVC cannot take responsibility.
●Marked points marked before finalizing will be deleted, and titles
will be divided automatically into “chapters” approximately every
5 minutes. (Apg. 9, 25)
●Depending on the DVD players and DVD-R/RW discs used, and
on the conditions of recording, it may not be possible to play back
the discs. In this case, play back the discs on this unit.
●Additional recordings become impossible.

Finalize A DVD-R/RW Disc

1Perform steps1-3 of “Format A DVD-RAM Disc” (Apg. 63)
before continuing.
2Press selection keys to select “FINALIZE”, then press ENTER.
3The confirmation screen appears. Press selection keys to
select “YES”, then press ENTER.
4The confirmation screen appears again. Press selection keys
to select “OK”, then press ENTER.
●To cancel finalization, press “CANCEL”.
5Upon completing finalization, “COMPLETED” appears on the
TV screen. Press ENTER to return to the previous screen.
6Press SET UP to return to the normal screen.
●Menu screen is cleared.
●Once a DVD-R/RW (Video mode) disc has been finalized, the
displays for original and play list do not appear. As only the
display for library appears, press TOP MENU to select the
desired title.
●Once a DVD-RW (VR mode) disc has been finalized, it can be
played on DVD players compatible with VR mode.

Cancel The Finalization Of A DVD-RW Disc

1Load a DVD-RW disc to cancel the disc finalization, and
perform steps 1-3 of “Format A DVD-RAM Disc” (Apg.63)
before continuing.
2Press selection keys to select “CANCEL DISC
FINALIZATION”, then press ENTER.
3Press selection keys to select “OK”, then press ENTER.
4Upon completing cancellation of finalization, “COMPLETED”
appears on the TV screen. Press ENTER to return to the
previous screen.
5Press SET UP to return to the normal screen.
●When the disc finalization is canceled, the mode in which the
disc was formatted is restored, making the disc recordable.
●It is not possible to cancel the finalization of a DVD-R disc.
Finalize A Disc
ATTENTION:
●Never turn off the unit or disconnect the AC power cord while
finalization or cancellation of finalization is in progress.
●Turn on the unit.
●Turn on the TV and select an input mode such as EXT1.
●Load a DVD-R/RW disc to finalize.
