7.Click on Finish to complete the installation of NPort 5400 Administration Suite.

Configuration

The Administrator-Configuration window is divided into four parts.

yThe top section contains the function list and online help area. (Windows NT does not support this .chm file format.)

yThe five Administrator function groups are listed in the left section.

yA list of NPort 5400 serial device servers, each of which can be selected to process user requirements, is displayed in the right section.

yThe activity Log, which displays messages that record the user’s processing history, is shown in the bottom section.

In the second case, you must enter the path to the WAV file that you want to be played. “New event” means that one of the NPort 5400s in the monitor is “Alive” or “Not Alive,” or has lost connection with the Monitor program 8. When one of the NPort 5400s loses connection with the Monitor program, a warning alert will display automatically. Select COM Settings to modify COM No., default setting, etc 6-22Fast Flush only flush local buffer However, it might take more time on the order of several hundred milliseconds than a native COM1, because it needs to work via Ethernet. That’s why the native COM ports on the motherboard can work fast with this function call, but the NPort requires much more time. In order to accommodate other applications that require a faster response time, the new NPort driver implements a new “Fast Flush” option. Note that by default, this function is disabled 9.
