Initial Setup and Using the ROM MonitorAfter installing the RemoteAc cessConcentrator software on the file
server host,c ollectthe following information, which is required to
determine the unit’sboot parameters:
• The location (directorypath) of the download files on the
host (tftp only).
• Whether the Remote Access Concentrator and host are on
the same subnetor separated by one or more routers.
• Whether the hostgoing to use tftp or erpcd (requires a
UNIX or WindowsNT®host) to serve the Remote Access
Concentratordownload code.
The Remote Access Concentrator needsthese parameters to perform an
initial boot when loadingthe software. Enter these parameters into the
EEPROM usingthe ROM monitor commands, which are accessed
througha serviceportterminal.See Chapter3 for moreinformationabout
these commands.
The Remote Access Concentrator supports theBootstrap Protocol
(BOOTP) and the Reverse Address Resolution P rotocol (RARP) which
can be used to obtain some of theinf ormationlisted. If you have a host
running BOOTPor RARP to serve the Remote Access Concentrator the
information, these rverwill boot without user intervention. For more

The Remote Access Concentratorsupports Windows NT®host
tools. Remote Annex Server Toolsfor Windows NT®allows
youto boot and configure the Remote Access Concentrator on a
