Remote Access Concentrator Parameters

TheRemote Access Concentrator requires that youset certain parameters

from the ROMm onitorbefore booting the unit from a host. Once the

RemoteAccess Concentrator is booted, you can change these parameters

usingthe na utility. Any changes to these parameters will require the unit

to be rebooted to takeeffect. Ta ble 2- 4 providesa brief description of

theseparameters.

Parame ter Description
Internetaddress Aunique 32-bit universal identifier that is
specifiedin dotted-decimal notation.
Subnetmask Defineswhich portion of the Internet address
isthe network (all ones), the subnet (all ones),
andthe host (all zeros) address.
Preferredload host address The Internet address of the host from which
youwant to boot.
Load/dumpgateway
Internetaddress TheInternet address of the router, for which
youwill be prompted, if the preferred load
hostis on a different network.
Broadcastaddress AnInternet address with a host id of all ones
(orall zeros for s upportof older 4.2 BSD
systems) to which all hosts on a part icular
subnetwill respond.
Typeof IP encapsulation Specifiesthe method for accessing the
physicaland network layer of the transmission
media.The default is: ethernet (forDIX
Ethernet-II).This parameter can also be set to
ieee802(alsoreferredtoasLLC/SNAP).
Broadcastflag Determineswhether the Remote Access
Concentratorwill broadcast for a load host if it
doesn’thave one.
