4.6 TAD (Telephone Answering Device)

The TAD feature is especially useful because it integrates the operation of the Model 1108 with your telephone answering device in a way that retains the full flexibility of each system. This allows you to have on-demand telephone access to the Model 1108, for obtaining a Status Report, or for issuing call-in commands, while your telephone answering device is set to receive outside calls. Programming for use with a telephone answering device (TAD) is always used in conjunction with Rings Until Answer, detailed in section 4.5.

NOTE

The TAD feature only applies to answering devices connected to the same telephone line as the Model 1108.

4.6.1 TAD Enable/Disable

To enable/disable the TAD feature:

1.Press SENSOR ON/OFF.

2.Press RING/TAD.

The Model 1108 will respond: “On.” (If the Model 1108 says “Off,” repeat steps 1 and 2 to reactivate TAD.)

4.6.2Using the TAD Feature

1.Make sure the TAD feature is enabled on the Model 1108. (The default setting is disabled, so you must enable it first.)

2.Determine the number of rings your telephone answering device uses to answer the telephone. (Most answering devices require 4 rings; others are selectable.)

3.On the Model 1108, program Rings Until Answer to a greater number than the number of rings set on your answering machine.

Example:

Telephone answering device, rings = 4 Model 1108, Rings Until Answer = 6
