3 Printer Configuration

Printer Configuration

In order to print data, the printer must respond correctly to interface signals and commands received from the host computer. Configuration is the process of matching the printer’s operating characteristics to those of the host computer. The characteristics that define the printer’s response to signals and commands received from the host computer are called configuration parameters and are found in the configuration menus. Configuration menu diagrams are shown later in this chapter.

Configuration parameters are retrieved from flash memory, or set from the control panel. This chapter explains how to set and save parameters with the control panel.

IMPORTANT Configuration directly affects printer operation. Do not change the configuration of your printer until you are thoroughly familiar with the procedures in this chapter.
