Initial Setup

To prepare the printer for operation, complete the procedures in the following sections. (Figure 2±4 shows the overall view and the rear view of the printer.)

Media

The printer accepts roll-fed, fan-folded or die-cut continuous media, either thermal transfer or direct thermal. Media width can range from 2 in (50.8 mm) to

6.7in (170 mm) for the T3306 and from 3 in (76.2 mm) to 9.00 in (228.6 mm) for the T3308. The printer will accommodate media thicknesses ranging from 0.0046 in (0.117 mm) to 0.01 in (0.254 mm).

Panel

The kind of media to be used, and whether or not a ribbon is to be installed, depends on the printing mode desired; i.e., direct thermal or thermal transfer.

The direct thermal printing mode does not use a ribbon. Instead, the printer applies heat directly to the print media, which reacts to the heat by turning black. This mode requires the use of a special direct thermal print media. It also requires that the ribbon (if already installed) be removed.

NOTE: Using direct thermal print media when a ribbon is installed will result in unacceptable print quality.
