BOOTP

The TPG60 supports BOOTP, which means that the IP address of the TPG60 can be assigned via a BOOTP server.

;The parameter 'BOOTP' has been activated.

If the TPG60 is connected, it asks the BOOTP host for the IP address and the host name. The answer of the BOOTP host server, which contains the IP address, is sent as a data packet and saved in the TPG60.

ARP/PING

By means of the 'arp' and 'ping' commands, you can save the IP address in the TPG60.

If the TPG60 already has an IP address, the 'arp' and 'ping' commands cannot be used to save a new IP address. However, an IP address from the address range 169.254.0.1 to 169.254.255.254 which is reserved for ZeroConf can be overwritten by means of the 'arp' and 'ping' commands.

Use the 'arp' and 'ping' commands to save the IP address if your network has no superordinate management of IP addresses, such as a DNS server.

The 'arp' command is used for editing the ARP table. The 'ping' command transfers a data packet containing the IP address to the hardware address of the TPG60. If the data packet has been successfully sent and received, the TPG60 permanently saves the IP address.

The implementation of the 'arp' and 'ping' command depends on the system used. For more information, please read the relevant section in the documentation of your operating system.

;The 'ARP/PING' parameter has been activated.
