Checking the track title or a disc title

Press DISPLAY on the remote during play or in stop mode.

The display changes as follows:

During normal play

Clock*2 tPreset Equalizer name*2 t Volume*2 tPlaying time of the MD*3 t Track title*4 tClock*2 t

In stop mode

Clock*2 tPreset Equalizer name*2 t Volume*2 tTotal number of tracks and total playing time or remaining recordable time of the MD (only for the recordable MD)*5 t Disc title*6 tClock*2 t

*2 After 8 seconds, the playing time of the MD appears.

*3 During normal play:

The track number and elapsed playing time of the track, track number and the remaining playing time of the track, or remaining time of the MD is displayed.

While the group function is activated:

The track number and elapsed playing time of the track, track number and the remaining playing time of the track, or remaining time of the group is displayed.

*4 If the track has no title, the track title is skipped. *5 While the group function is activated, the total

number of the groups (when a group is not selected) or total number of the tracks in the group and total playing time of the group (when a group is selected).

*6 If the MD has no title, the disc title is skipped. While the group function is activated, group title is displayed.

To scroll a long name

Press SCROLL on the remote.

The title appears scrolling in the display.

MD — Recording

Before you start recording

MDs (Mini Disc) let you digitally record and play music with high quality sound. Another feature of MDs is track marking. The track marking feature lets you quickly locate a specific point or easily edit the recorded tracks. However, depending on the source you record, the recording method and the way the track numbers are recorded differ.

When the source you record from is:

• This system’s CD player

The MD deck performs digital recording.1*

Track numbers are automatically marked as on the original CD. However, track numbers may not be marked for some tracks (see page 56).

Other digital components connected to the DIGITAL OPTICAL IN jack

The MD deck performs digital recording.1*

Track numbers are marked differently depending on the source you record.

This system’s tuner and other components connected to the TAPE IN jack

The MD deck performs analog recording.

A track number is marked at the beginning of a recording, but when you turn on the Level-Synchro Recording function (see page 24), track numbers are automatically marked in sync with the level of the input signal.
