When the battery is running out o f power, both the battery and power i ndicators blink.
To determine the time the batte ry lasts, please refer to Battery information in your Software Guide.
Keep the battery pack in the computer while it is directly c onnected to AC power. The battery pack continues
to charge while you are using the computer.
If the battery level fall s to below 10%, y ou should either a ttach the AC ad apter to recharg e the battery or s hut
down your computer and insert a fully cha rged battery.
You can extend battery life by changing the power management modes in the PowerPanel utility. See your
Software guide, in Controlling Power Management.
The battery pack supplied with your computer is a lithium ion battery and can be recha rged anytime. Charging
a partially discharged battery doe s not affect battery life.
The battery indicator light is on while you use the battery pack as a power source. When the battery life is
nearly depleted, the battery in dicator starts flashing.
For some software applications and some per ipheral devices, your compute r may not enter system hib ernation
mode when battery life is low. To avoid loss of data when using battery power, you should save your dat a
frequently and manually activate a powe r management mode, such as syste m suspend or system hibernatio n.
When the computer is connected to AC p ower and has a battery pack in the bat tery bay, it uses power from
the AC outlet.
