Configuring Switch Software

This chapter describes how to configure the switch software.

The switch incorporates four main software components:

IPMI firmware, which runs on a separate microcontroller.

uBoot loads the boot for the system. It can be compared to a BIOS on a node board.

Operating system (OS), which uses Monta Vista 3.1 Pro, based on the 2.4.20 Linux kernel.

LVL7 Systems’ FASTPATH software, which provides all of the management and control features of the switch.

The IPMI firmware, uBoot, and OS are covered in this chapter. FASTPATH is described, however, for detailed information and command syntax, refer to the Netra CP3240 Switch Command Reference Manual (820-3253).
