Figure1 -6:A com puter representation of the 1705A display showing the 12.198 GHz
horizontallypolarized telemetry beacon on t he SATCOMK2 satellite (Span/Div set
to 100 kHz witha 10 kHz Resolution filter)
TransponderPolarization. Whetherone or two polarizationsare used can
often be aneasy way to identify a satellite. For example, a satellite with
alternatepolarization will have overlapping bandwidths, similar to those
depicted in Figure 1-7. In this ex ample the center frequency of each transponder
down link is given. With the center frequency fo reach t ransponderknown,
finding the correcttransponder and determining its activity is easily accom-
plished with the 1705A SpectrumMonitor.
