Powering-up
When the 1705A is firstpowered up, it should come up in a measurement mode.
Most commonly it will be configuredas it was when it was last turned off. If
not, there are some verysimple checks that should be made.
If the powerswitch is showing ON, but the graticule and front-panel indicators
do not come on, checkfor a mains power problem, such as a blown fuse or
interruptedpower mains (unplugged or main breaker thrown). If these are right,
referto a qualified service technician for troubleshooting.
If the Non-VolatileRAM (NVRAM) is defective, which disables the operationof
the Microprocessor, there is a crt readout. If the 1705A comes on with the
following message:
ERROR : CANNOT READ OR WRITE
TO 2444
PRESS [VIDEO] KEY TO EXIT
operation will bequestionable and the 1705A should be thoroughly checked out
by a qualified servicetechnician.
Normal start-upof the instrument should consist of a display of alphanumeric
frequencyreadout and a spectrum display similar to that in Figure 2-3.
